Kamal for timely completion of Banaras flyover

KARACHI: City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal has warned strict action against the concerned construction companies and officers on negligence in the ongoing development projects in the city.

Kamal said this during a chain of surprise visits to the sites of development projects on Monday. He sought detailed briefing regarding the work in progress on the Banaras Chowk flyover and issued directives to accelerate the pace of work for its timely completion.

He claimed that the City District Government Karachi had completed about 60 percent of the construction and the flyover would be opened for traffic within four months, adding that the CDGK had altered the design to ensure maximum convenience and the present flyover would be 24 meters wide with 8.2 meters space in the middle for the proposed Bus Rapid System, thereby increasing the cost. He added that the flyover would be 1.5-km long from Metro Cinema to Peerabad police station and would cost the CDGK Rs. 1,150 million. staff report
