CCP orders PIA to refund extra haj fares
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) overcharged pilgrims during haj season 2008, the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) said on Friday. The commission also ordered the national carrier to refund the extra amount charged to the pilgrims within two months. The bench, consisting of Maleeha Mimi Bangash and Dr Joseph Wilson, also imposed a token penalty of Rs 10 million on PIA. The bench, in its decision, ordered the national carrier to make refunds to its passengers, within two month from the date of the order. The commission had found that PIA had unreasonably increased haj fares from Rs 38,500 to Rs 70,000 for South Region and from Rs 46,200 to Rs 85,000 for North Region. sajid chaudhry
