Foreign hand behind recent wave of terror: NWFP CM
PESHAWAR: NWFP Chief Minister Ameer Haider Hoti said on Friday that external hand was involved in terrorist attacks in the country and financing terrorism. Talking to reporters after funeral prayers of the policemen killed at Panj Kattha Chowk in Yakkatoot area in a bomb attack late on Thursday, the CM said that they wanted to tell the world to help stop the foreign involvement. He said that the provincial government had decided to increase the Martyr Package for police personnel by 100 percent, from Rs 1.5 to Rs 3 million. He said that the city was being targeted as frontline city in the war on terror; however, the people, the government and security agencies’ morale was high and the war would continue till end of militants. He said that the police jawans were scarifying their lives to stop terrorists. He paid tributes to the police personnel. He said that the police’s capabilities were being enhanced in terms of personnel, training, infrastructure and weapons. To a question about Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Swat chief Fazlullah’s presence in Afghanistan, he said that the government could not confirm it and it was not necessary that the caller be Fazlullah. staff report
