Punjab govt supports NWFP in war against terror: Shahbaz

* Punjab chief minister says his government will construct hospital in Swat
* Punjab will train Rescue 1122 personnel


PESHAWAR: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Mian Shahbaz Sharif said on Friday evening that the people of NWFP were fighting a war of survival in the country, and the people of Punjab would support them in this hour of trials and tribulations.

Talking to reporters after visiting those injured by the recent bomb blasts in Peshawar at Lady Reading Hospital, Mian Shahbaz Sharif and NWFP Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti, assured of their full support and assistance in eliminating the growing challenges of militancy.

"Brave traditions were set by the people of NWFP in the past for the country and the present sacrifices will not go to waste. These efforts were about to become fruitful in the days to come, said Shahbaz. He prayed for the success of the NWFP government in the war against terrorism, as many innocent people including women and children had lost their lives.

Hospital: He said that the Punjab government would construct a state-of-the-art hospital in Swat district, for which the people of Punjab have deposited over Rs750 million in the Chief Minister's Fund.

Shahbaz thanked the NWFP chief minister for allocating land for the construction of the hospital. He assured him that construction on the project would start soon, and it would be a gift from the people of Punjab for their brothers in Swat.

The NWFP CM thanked Shahbaz and said he was really impressed by the support and cooperation of the Punjab government towards NWFP in this difficult time.

He said that the people of Punjab have always supported us in difficult times, and we are thankful to the Sharif brothers for their wholehearted help to the people of NWFP.

Training: Answering a question, he said the government of Punjab would impart training to NWFP Rescue 1122 personnel as well.

Earlier, the Punjab chief minister held a one-on-one meeting with the NWFP chief minister at the Frontier House Peshawar. app
