19 terrorists killed in FATA

* Five Taliban killed in Operation Rah-e-Nijat

RAWALPINDI/KHAR/BARA: Security forces on Friday killed at least 19 terrorists across the Tribal Areas, as one soldier was injured in clashes. Six of the terrorists were killed in Bajaur Agency’s Charmang and Mamoond tehsils when forces pounded terrorists’ hideouts with heavy artillery.

Also, a tribal jirga in Bajaur announced support for the government against the Taliban, officials said. The forces arrested a Taliban, while two others surrendered in Mamoond and Nawagai. In Khyber Agency, security forces killed eight terrorists and injured several others in the agency’s Bara tehsil. Frontier Corps sources said a soldier was killed and two others injured in a roadside blast in the agency, adding that several terrorists’ hideouts were destroyed in shelling. Meanwhile, in Operation Rah-e-Nijat in South Waziristan, troops killed five more Taliban on Friday.

“Terrorists fired with small arms and rockets at Asman Manza and Ladha, leading to an encounter with the forces, in which five terrorists were killed, while a soldier was injured,” the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said. The troops have consolidated their positions at Janata and seized a large cache of arms, the ISPR said. staff report
