Music concert `Strings and Wings’: Tunisian violinist enthrals audience at NAG

ISLAMABAD: The Embassy of the Republic of Tunisia in collaboration with Ministry of Culture on Friday organised a violin concert titled `Strings and Wings’ at National Art Gallery (NAG), Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA).
Tunisian Ambassador Mourad Bourehla was the chief guest on this occasion. PNCA Director General Tauqir Nasir, officials of Ministry of Culture, Tunisian nationals and a large number of people attended the concert.
The wonderful travel through violin strings around the most beautiful Tunisian and Arabic Music by Anis Kelibi marked the occasion of the 22nd Anniversary of the Change of the 7th November 1987.
Violinist Anis Kelibi performed with authentic talent, creative sense and open-mindedness. He is considered among the best Arabic violinist and has been awarded for the best performances at the national and international music events.
The moving performance by the passionate Tunisian violinist, researcher and scholar in the Music High School of Tunis, Anis Kelibi enthralled the audience at the music concert.
Kelibi displayed extraordinary techniques on violin and gave a breathtaking performance on Tunisian and Arabic music.
Born in Sfax Tunisia in 1973, Anis Kelibi held musical studies at the Music High School of Tunis where he is teaching now.
Bourehla said this special occasion was marked to celebrate the anniversary of change, which ushered in a new era of development and modernisation. “President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali has saved the country from the pitfalls of economic bankruptcy and institutional collapse and set the stage for the success story of Tunisia,” he said, adding the president had won the recent elections with an overwhelming majority which illustrated that the people of Tunisia had great regard for him.
The ambassador said Tunisia and Pakistan enjoyed a traditional and deep-rooted relationship, sharing a common vision, cooperating and coordinating with each other in international forums. “Tunisia will stand by Pakistan as it faces the many challenges during this difficult period and the clouds will go away and the sunlight will shine once again,” he said.
Tauqir Nasir said the council was proud to arrange this enticing violin performance by a highly celebrated master musician from Republic of Tunisia. “It is our strong desire to extend this harmonization to the four corners of globe for creation of a softer and redefined image of Pakistan,” Nasir said.
