Punjab governor signs nine bills
LAHORE: Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer has signed nine bills, passed by the provincial assembly in its 15th session, which was held from November 2 to 9. These bills are now published as an act of the provincial legislature, 2009. A press release issued by the provincial assembly on Thursday, stated that these ordinances were promulgated during the tenure of Pervez Musharraf when he was holding the office as president of Pakistan in 2007. According to details, the last provincial government led by Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi promulgated the Provincial Motor Vehicles Ordinance 2007 in September 2007, and it was yet to become an ordinance since it had not been tabled in assembly. The Punjab Katchi Abadis Ordinance, and the Punjab Prohibition of Kite Flying Ordinance were promulgated in October 2007 while the Punjab Rented Premises Ordinance and the Punjab Government Employees Welfare Fund Ordinance were promulgated in November 2007.
