* Ban imposed on sale of sacrificial animals in city
* Solid Waste Management Department directed to ensure sanitation in city during Eid days

Staff Report

RAWALPINDI: The City District Government Rawalpindi (CDGR) on Thursday completed all the arrangements to establish three cattle markets for Eidul Azha outside the city and imposed ban on sale of sacrificial animals in the city.

The plan was prepared during a meeting held with Rawalpindi District Coordination Officer (DCO) Imdadullah Bosal in the chair. Executive District Officer (EDO) Municipal Services Imtiaz Ahmad, District Officer Solid Waste Management Dr Mazhar Azeem Chaudhry, Rawal Town Municipal Officer (TMO) Nasir Ali Shah and Potohar Town TMO Malik Mumtaz and other senior district officials attended the meeting.

The meeting decided that only three cattle markets would be established outside the city near T&T Exchange at Adiala Road, Dakkasi near Chakri Road and Chani Alam Sher- area between Mandra and Chak Beli Khan.

Bosal appointed the Rawal Town TMO to ensure that no cattle vendor should sell cattle while roaming in the city and nobody would set up cattle market instead of the space allocated by the CDGR.

Sanitation: The DCO warned Solid Waste Management Department (SWMD) staff of strict action in case of poor sanitation in the city during Eid days. He directed the SWMD staff to ensure speedy removal of offal and animal waste from streets/roadsides for disposal at Losar landfill site.

The meeting was informed the city would be divided into four sectors for Eidul Azha. He said the transfer station would be established in the city from where the animal waste and offal would be transported to Losar landfill site.

Total 500 handcarts would be provided to sanitary workers to collect the animal waste in 46 union councils of the city. The people could also contact the control room at Rawal Town Municipal Administration offices through helpline No 0333-5249638 or landline numbers 051-5950141 and 051-5704846 for prompt collection of animal waste.
