RAC exhibits works of fine arts students

RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) on Thursday exhibited works of its 50 Fine Arts students and three other artists.

The artists whose works were displayed were Azeem Iqbal, Zulfiqar Ali and famous miniature artist Najam Kazmi.

Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Imtiaz Inayat Elahi inaugurated the exhibition where over 250 art objects from the fields of photography, ceramics, miniature paintings, calligraphy, sculpture, textile, graphic designing, printmaking, papier-mâché, floral arrangements and fiberglass were displayed.

A large number of RAC students and teachers along with art lovers turned up and appreciated the works.

Azeem Iqbal, a calligrapher, said the works exhibited were of good quality and its presentation exceptional. He said the students had produced more than 50 striking and eye-catching paintings.

A look at these art pieces showed the students explored different themes with beautiful and unique angles in their works. In the discipline of calligraphy, they highlighted Islamic influence of art in calligraphy.

The works done by the students of Ceramics Department surrounded the viewers with powerful depictions of iconic figures in a pleasant contour of mud, while the students of Fashion Designing Department presented new dresses with a blend of traditional and modern styles.

CDA Chairman Imtiaz Inayat Elahi appreciated the works of the RAC students, saying they had proved that the young generation had the capacity to express themselves in different areas of fine arts.

He also appreciated the RAC role in promoting arts and culture. He said artists were the assets of the country and their works in any genre were of immense importance.

Resident Director of RAC Waqar Ahmed said on the occasion that the young artists had done a good job. He called the artwork wonderful expression of creativity and imagination.

He said, “every art piece depicts the maturity of work and professionalism of the artistic vision of the budding artist.” He said the variety of techniques, use of colours, and expression were very innovative and proved the dedication of the art students to the profession.
