Lawyers boycott courts to slam killing, kidnapping of colleagues

LAHORE: Lawyers observed a partial strike on Tuesday to protest the murder of a lawyer in Okara and the kidnapping of another from Liaqatpur.

The Punjab Bar Council had called for the strike on Tuesday. Lawyers partially boycotted court proceedings and held protest meetings, demanding the government arrest the culprits behind these heinous acts. Rai Faryad Ali advocate was killed in an attempted robbery two weeks ago. Two of the accused were killed in an encounter with police, but the others are still at large. Sajid Ali, another lawyer, was kidnapped a few days ago, but the accused have not been traced or arrested so far.
