India wants to improve trade relations with Pakistan

RAWALPINDI: Indian Embassy would fully cooperate with the Pakistani business community to boost the bilateral trade relations between the two countries and also give visa relaxation to the Pakistani businessmen.

This was stated by Indian Commercial Counsellor to Pakistan, Rajindar Kumar Sharma on Monday in a meeting with a delegation of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), led by President, Kashif Shabbir at his office on Monday.

Sharma said Pakistani cloth, pharmaceutical products and chemicals are in great demand in India owing to their good quality.

India is the second largest economic market after China in the region, he said and observed the restoration of trade relations between the two countries could play a vital role in enhancing mutual political relations.

Speaking on the occasion, Kashif Shabbir said that the masses of the both sides want peaceful relations and the business community could play a very effective role in this regard.

Kashif said that Pakistani businessmen seek a proper space in the Indian markets and added that major exports from Pakistan to India are sugarcane, fruits, vegetables, cotton,

chemical, cloth and yarn, while the major exports from the Indian side are rubber and plastic materials.

“It is not enough for the trade relations between the two countries of the region. We should move forward to the non-traditional trade items to further improve the trade relations”, he opined.

The Indian Commercial Counsellor ensured his full cooperation to the RCCI President in this regard.

Senior Vice President, Syed Ali Raza Saeed Shah; Vice President, Khawaja Abdur Rashid Waien and RCCI executive committee members were also included in the delegation. app
