PCOM receives face-lift, offers new features
LAHORE: The Punjab Civil Officers Mess (PCOM) has been given a massive face-lift that includes a revamped interior that is classy and elegant, air-conditioned lobbies and a refined atmosphere with the finest of facilities.
* Card room: It is a fully air-conditioned, tastefully decorated spacious room to play cards.
* Cigar lounge: It is a refurbished and fully air-conditioned room for members who have a taste for tobacco. They can bring their own tobacco too.
* Gentlemen’s lounge: It is an ideal place with the right ambience for relaxation.
* Daycare: It is a room with all the activities for children of different age groups.
* Ladies room: It can be booked for ladies’ coffee mornings, committee parties and small lunches/dinners.
* Mini theatre: It is a well-decorated fully air-conditioned comfortable room that can house 35-45 persons. The 60-inch LCD TV makes it the perfect place to watch sports events and host movies for a small gathering.
* Teenager café: It is a stylishly designed café that offers Internet, cable television on LCD and a sound system for the officer’s children.
* BBQ lawn: It provides quick service and unmatched taste in BBQ and Pakistani cuisine in an open outdoor setting.
* Patisserie: It offers an assortment of delectable pastries, freshly baked bread and cakes.
* Gymnasium: There is a gym with more modern equipment and professional instructors. It is centrally air-conditioned and has a high-tech sound system and LCD TVs to ensure that members are able to exercise in comfortable environment.
* Swimming pool: An all weather-covered swimming pool has been finalised and will be ready by mid of next year.
* Billiards: It is a fully air-conditioned billiards room with wooden floor and LCD TV. It has a snooker table and one pool table for members to enjoy.
* Auditorium: The mess has a Jillani Auditorium, which is fully air-conditioned, carpeted with a comfortable seating arrangement for 350 members. The mess hosts a movie every weekend for members.
* Guesthouse: The mess has accommodation of 14 rooms. The rooms are well maintained and have been renovated on high standard. The mess charged Rs 1500 of single standard room. Rs 1700 for double. Rs 1800 for VIP single, Rs 2100 for VIP double, Rs 2200 for single suite and Rs.2500 for double suite.
The family of Mehmood Ahmed, additional secretary/staff officer to chief secretary was living in the mess. Yousaf Jamal, a retired DMG officer, was living in one of the guest rooms. The DMG association has established its office in mess. There is a big lawn, one fountain to provide lush green and scenic beauty of waterfalls to the members. The management has made new plantation of variety of species worth one million in August to make the mess more beautiful.
