COAS visits Waziristan forward positions, IDPs

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Kayani on Saturday visited Ladha and Sararogha in South Waziristan to meet the troops conducting Operation Rah-e-Nijat.

Gen Kayani praised the morale and spirit of the troops. He also lauded the swift and successful conduct of the operation.

The COAS also met internally displaced persons in Dera Ismail Khan and told them that their support was crucial to evict the terrorists. He said on the successful completion of the initial phase of the operation, security forces would soon create necessary conditions for safe return of all displaced persons.

He said the army would be undertaking development projects for the social uplift of the area.

Earlier, on arrival, Corps Commander Lieutenant General Muhammad Masood Aslam, received the chief of the army staff.
