Lawyer moves LHC against Nawaz, Musharraf
LAHORE: A petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday, seeking directions to reopen three criminal cases registered against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif. The petitioner, Barrister Javed Iqbal Jaferee, said criminal cases had been lodged against Nawaz in DG Khan when he was the prime minister, but Nawaz used his position and managed to get the cases closed. The petitioner said nawaz was accusing Musharraf of crimes, which he himself had committed during his tenure as prime minister. He said Nawaz had kidnapped and handed over Aemal Kansi, a Pakistani citizen, to the US in 1998, and was accusing Musharraf of trading of Dr Aafia Siddiqi to the US for foreign aid. He sought court directions to try Nawaz Sharif and Pervez Musharraf by competent courts and sentence them in accordance with the law. staff report
