‘Swat completely under security forces’ control’

MINGORA: All of Swat is under the military’s control and all exit points have been closed to prevent any terrorists from escaping, Swat operational commander Maj Gen Asfaque Nadeem said on Wednesday.

Talking to the media, he said the operation in Swat had been made successful due to the extended cooperation of people, adding that the security forces were currently conducting a search operation in some areas of Swat as there was information about the presence of unwanted elements. Asfaque said that work on developmental projects had already been started and the security forces were repairing and constructing mosques. The situation in Mingora and other parts of the district is normal and under the control of security forces, he added. He also announced that they were planning to organise a skiing championship in December at Malam Jabba to promote and restore tourism in the valley. app
