Taliban jail unearthed as troops kill nine in South Waziristan

RAWALPINDI: Security forces have killed nine more Taliban in South Waziristan, the military said on Tuesday, as troops destroyed a number of caves, towers and observation posts and unearthed a private Taliban jail.
According to a statement by the ISPR, security forces secured Tsappara and adjoining ridges on the “Jandola-Sararogha axis”.
“Search-and-clearance operations are underway in Sarai Ghundaka, Kandao, Spinkai and Zariwam,” it said. The ISPR said troops also cleared the area north of Ladha and found a private jail near Bangelkhel, destroying a number of Taliban caves, bunkers, towers and observation posts on the “Shakai–Kaniguram axis”. During search operation in the area north of Ladha, five Taliban were killed. On the “Razmak-Makeen axis”, troops are clearing and consolidating their positions. “Security forces conducted a house-to-house search operation in Tauda China Khula and Fort Knoll, and seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition. One Taliban was also arrested, while four were killed,” said the ISPR.
Swat Taliban: In Swat, the ISPR said nine Taliban surrendered to security forces in Maindam, Lakhar and Kabbal. “Security forces conducted a search operation in Roria... arresting four Taliban,” said the statement.
