China executes 9 over Xinjiang riots: media

BEIJING: China on Monday executed nine people convicted of violent crimes committed during July’s ethnic rioting between the Uighurs and Han Chinese in the Muslim-dominated Xinjiang province. The China News Service said the country’s supreme court executed nine people after a judicial review, adding that another three have been given suspended death sentences. It further said another 20 people were indicted for the deaths of 18 people, destruction of property and other crimes during the rioting. reuters
