Altaf, Zardari discuss politics
LAHORE: President Asif Zardari and Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain on Saturday discussed the political situation of the country and other issues of mutual interest. According to a private TV channel, in a telephonic conversation, Zardari sought Altaf’s support for the government. The two leaders expressed satisfaction over the talks held between their parties in Abu Dhabi. Zardari and Altaf agreed to work together to strengthen the country’s democratic institutions, a private TV channel reported. On the MQM’s stance on the NRO, Zardari said every party was entitled to hold and express its opinions. The two leaders also discussed provincial autonomy, the 17th Amendment and Article 58(2b) of the constitution. daily times monitor/app
