Retired army captain gunned down
KARACHI: A retired captain of the Pakistan Army was killed by unidentified people on Friday night in Sharifabad police station limits.
As per details, Naseerullah, 42, was gunned down outside his relatives’ house in Block-A of Sharifabad.
DSP Raza Hussain Shah, after initial investigation, revealed that the victim was visiting Karachi to attend a wedding ceremony and that he originally hailed from Allama Iqbal Town in Lahore.
Shah said that Naseerullah was waiting for someone in front of his relatives’ house when unidentified culprits arrived at the scene and fled after shooting him twice in the leg, adding that the captain died due to excessive bleeding and that his body was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities.
The officer said that the motive behind the incident was not ascertained and that it might be possible that he was shot due to resisting a mobile snatching bid. Further investigation was underway, he added.
In another incident, Bilal Aman, 22, was killed when a speeding water tanker hit his motorcycle on Malir Al-Falah Road in Model Colony police station limits. His body was taken to the hospital, while the tanker driver managed to escape.
Separately, Zakir was killed near Port Qasim in Bin Qasim police station limits when a speeding vehicle hit him while he was trying to cross the road. staff report
