Mukhtar hints at military operation in N Waziristan

Daily Times Monitor

LAHORE: A military operation will also be conducted in North Waziristan after the completion of Operation Rah-e-Nijat, Defence Minister Ahmad Mukhtar said on Thursday.

Talking to a private TV channel, he said Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Kayani’s reservations over the Kerry-Lugar law were justified. He said Americans should have used soft language in the bill, adding that Ambassador Hussain Haqqani had failed in getting the bill amended.

Mukhtar said Indian involvement in the Waziristan resistance had been proved, and the security forces would soon declare victory in the troubled tribal agency. He said any reshuffle in the federal cabinet would be a good decision, as some ministers should be relieved from their duties. The minister said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz was not in the favour of mid-term elections. He said the general elections should be held in time.
