Three Iranian bombing suspects arrested in Turbat
QUETTA: Three Iranian nationals arrested on Thursday for illegally entering Pakistan may have been linked to last month's deadly bomb attack in Iran, police said.
Tehran says the rebel group Jundullah, which has claimed responsibility for the October 18 attack in the Iranian province of Sistan-Baluchistan, operates from across the border in Pakistan. The attack had killed 15 Iranian Revolutionary Guards, including six senior commanders, and 27 others. The three Iranian Baloch were arrested in the border town of Turbat, around 500 kilometres west of Quetta, Rauf Breach, Turbat's police chief, told AFP. "We suspect they may have some links with the suicide attack in Iran," Breach added, referring to the October 18 bombing. The arrests came two weeks after Iranian Interior Minister Mustafa Muhammad Najjar visited Pakistan to demand it hand over Abdolmalek Reigi, the militant group's leader. Pakistan has condemned the bombing and vowed to help Iran track down those responsible, but says Reigi is in Afghanistan, according to their information. agencies
