LHC requested to order inquiry against CPO, SHO

Staff Report

RAWALPINDI: Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Mahrukh Aziz Tarar on Wednesday sent a letter to registrar of the LHC Rawalpindi Bench to order departmental inquiry against city police officer (CPO) and Westridge Police Station house officer (SHO) because they did not appear before the court in a narcotics case.

The ASJ was trying a narcotics case registered with Westridge Police Station against Said Badshah. On the last hearing, the ASJ summoned the relevant police officers but they did not turn up.

Upon this, the court asked the Westridge police SHO to appear before it but he did not. The court then summoned the CPO but he also did not reply.

Now, the court wrote a letter to registrar of LHC Rawalpindi Bench for a departmental inquiry against the police officials in question.

Separately, Additional Sessions Judge Sajjad Hussain Sindhar issued show cause notice to DSP and sought his written reply till November 11 over allegations of interference in a murder case.

The accused, Abdul Hameed, and others allegedly involved in murder case registered with Kahuta Police Station, submitted an application with the court stating that DSP Zulfiqar Mirza was interfering in the case.

Meanwhile, Additional Sessions Judge Abdul Rehman Awan awarded life imprisonment to a man involved in kidnapping and rape of an eight years old girl.

Muhammad Amir was arrested by Pirwadhai police on charge of kidnapping and raping the eight years old girl in 2006.
