CID arrests four robbers

KARACHI: The Crime Investigation Department (CID) of the Sindh police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested four alleged criminals, including their group leader, who are affiliated with a political party, and seized weapons from their possession.

CID Operations SSP Fayyaz Khan said that the ring leader, Ataullah, alias Mamu, was also wanted in the murder case of CID Sub Inspector Siddiq Mallah’s son, Zulfiqar, who was gunned down on the suspicion of being an informant in Sachal police station limits, adding that Ataullah’s accomplices, namely Qasim, Ashiq and Anwar, were also arrested and two Kalashnikovs and TT pistols each were recovered from their possession.

Khan also said that these arrests were made during separate encounters on Super Highway and in New Karachi, adding that these men were wanted by the police in various criminal cases, including dacoities and extortion, and that cases were registered against them in different police stations, including Sachal and Shahrah-e-Faisal.

Khan further said that Qasim had killed a person named Manzur during a bank robbery on Shahrah-e-Faisal, adding that Ataullah was the local leader of a political party and was his party’s president in Sikandar Goth.

“This gang has been involved in over 90 percent of robberies on Super Highway, especially during riots and protests,” said Khan and added that further investigation was underway. staff report
