Tension at Superhighway

KARACHI: Tension and fear gripped the citizens of the Sohrab Goth area after unidentified men resorted to firing and disturbed the law and order situation on Superhighway on Sunday afternoon. SHO Sohrab Goth Ejaz Rajpar said that the incident was a reaction to Saturday’s drive against encroachment in Teacher’s Society, adding that a score of land grabbers, led by Raza Mohammad Khaskheli, who is notorious for grabbing government lands, came out on the Superhighway and blocked the traffic by pelting passing vehicles with stones and burning tyres. Rajpar further said that the miscreants also resorted to firing, but nobody was hurt, adding that they were demanding that the police should take back the case registered against them. Rajpar added that some Afghan nationals were also with them, but all they demanded was to stop the crackdown against them as they had come to Karachi for employment and they did not have any links with terrorists. staff report
