Anti-one unit finance conference

Staff Report

KARACHI: The Sindh Dost Rabita Council has announced on Saturday it would convene ‘Anti-one unit finance conference’ on November 14 in Karachi to build more pressure on the Sindh government about the NFC Award issue.

According to a press release issued by the organisation, the decision was taken at a meeting held with Barrister Zamir Ghumro in chair. Various chapters of the council from Sukkur, Hyderabad, Larkana, Mirpurkhas and other districts participated through audio conference.

All the political forces and personalities of the province would be invited at the meeting ‘for taking a common stand of Sindh on the finance issue’. The participants of the meeting condemned the provincial government for backing out from its unanimous resolution of 2003 passed in the Sindh Assembly and taking a reverse stand on the NFC issue.

“The council noted with concern that the Pakistan People’s Party had rejected horizontal distribution in Sindh Assembly’s resolution of 2003 jointly moved by Syed Sardar Ahmed and Nisar Khuhro, but now it has taken a ‘U’ turn and is opposing the resolution,” the press release stated.
