3 more TTP militants arrested

KARACHI: The Crime Investigation Department (CID) on Saturday arrested three militants associated with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) including the chief of Karachi chapter and seized explosives and weapons from their possession.
The arrested accused were identified as Bahadur Khan Mohmand alias Sadiq, TTP Karachi chapter chief, Abid Hussain Shah alias Qari Yasir and Shakirullah while three of their associates Asif alias Zarar Baloch, Abdul Qudoos Baloch and Abdullah alias Ibrahim managed to escape under the cover of firing.
SSP CID (Operations) Fayyaz Khan while disclosing these arrests said that the arrested persons were associated with Omer Khalid alias Abdul Wali who is their group chief and also a Taliban commander of Mohmand Agency.
Talking about the arrests, SSP Khan said these arrests were made during an encounter after the CID team led by DSP Choudhry Safdar raided their hideout near Nadir Hospital, Super Highway, Sohrab Goth. Thirty kilogrammes of explosive material, three Kalashnikovs and two hand grenades were also recovered from their possession, the officer said and added that the arrested accused Bahadur is the Taliban Ameer for Karachi.
They are high profile terrorists and were involved in various cases of crime and terrorism in the city including police encounters, target killings and bank dacoities. SSP Khan further said that some others including Bilal and Amanullah are also their group members and all of them are trained from Waziristan.
During the initial course of interrogation, the arrested militants revealed that the accused Abid Shah along with his companions including Rehman had killed six army personnel in an attack at on the army check post in Bannu Jani Khail. Moreover, the accused admitted that they have killed security forces personnel in Waziristan after abducted them.
However, the accused Bahadur on the directives of his group commander Wali has been doing various acts of crime and terrorism in the city. He along with his associates including Asif, Bilal, Qudoos, Ilyas and Abdullah had robbed Rs 1.7 million from a bank in Ferozabad area in the month of Ramazan. They have also been involved in beheading of informers. Also, he had killed a man named Sanobar Khan six months back in the limits of Khawaja Ajmair Nagri over suspicion of being an informer.
Another accused Asif along with three of his associates had killed a man named Khan Sher and the accused Abid had killed a person Shayar Gul in the limits of Sohrab Goth police station on suspicion that they were informers. They had come to Karachi to collect money to finance their activities and had snatched various oil tankers and sent half of the looted money to their commander Wali. Further, investigation is underway and more arrests would be made soon, the SSP added.
