Manmohan Singh to visit Srinagar tomorrow

NEW DELHI: Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh will reach Srinagar tomorrow (Wednesday), apparently to launch some developmental projects. APP reported that the visit came in the wake of Indian announcement to launch “quiet diplomacy”, engaging all shades of groups in Indian-held Kashmir (IHK) to find a solution to the lingering dispute. Singh on Sunday indicated that India was willing to talk with the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) and other Kashmiri parties to find a lasting solution to the dispute. “I recognise there are some political groups outside the mainstream. We would like them to engage in a constructive dialogue with us,” he told reporters in Hua Hin, Thailand on Sunday where he attended two summit meetings. This will be Singh’s first visit to IHK after being elected the prime minister for the second term. staff report/app
