Key PML-Q, MQM leaders absent from joint sitting

ISLAMABAD: Top leaders from the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement were absent from Monday’s joint sitting of parliament, which was addressed by the prime minister and his Turkish counterpart. Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Chudhry Pervaiz Elahi and Makhdoom Faisal Saleh Hiyat did not attend the session. However, the second-tier leadership of their party attended the proceedings. Also, Farooq Sattar and Haider Abass Rizvi – the parliamentary leader and the deputy parliamentary leader of the MQM – did not attend the session. Parliamentary heads of all other parties and the leader of the opposition attended the session. staff report
