Troops kill six Taliban in Bajaur, two in Khyber
KHAR/PESHAWAR/ HANGU: Security forces killed six Taliban and injured three others in Mataak area of Bajaur Agency’s Nawagai tehsil on Sunday, while three soldiers died in clashes. Taliban attacked a security post in Mataak. Troops retaliated, using long-range artillery to target Taliban hideouts. Troops and Taliban also engaged in a gunbattle in Mulla Sayed area of Salarzai tehsil. Meanwhile, helicopter gunships shelled Ghundi and Mandal in Khar. In Khyber Agency, two Taliban were killed and four others – including an important commander – injured in clashes with security forces. Troops also seized arms, ammunition and cash. In Upper Orakzai, fighter jets bombed Taliban hideouts in Ghalju and Khadezai areas. staff report
