Two Indian tourists killed, 9 feared dead in IHK accident
SRINAGAR: Two Indian tourists died and nine others were feared dead on Sunday after their jeep fell into a deep gorge in the eastern Himalayan mountains of Indian-held Kashmir (IHK), police said. The driver lost control on an icy bend at Zojila, about 100 kilometres east of Srinagar, according to police officer Imtiaz Ahmed. “The jeep tumbled into a deep gorge killing two tourists, while nine others are missing and feared dead,” he said. The tourists, from India’s western state of Gujarat, had gone to see the Zojila pass, which sits at an altitude of 9,000 feet. afp
