Seven landmines unearthed near Peshawar airport
ISLAMABAD: Police foiled a terrorism bid on Sunday, recovering seven landmines from the Pushtakhra area, a few metres from the Peshawar International Airport. A private TV channel reported that the landmines were found under the Pukhtay Bridge, situated near a police checkpost. Police said terrorists had hidden the landmines under the bridge, probably because they were afraid of getting caught. The Bomb Disposal Squad defused the landmines, each weighing about seven pounds. A single landmine could destroy a big vehicle, a squad official said. app
