ISLAMABAD: The meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif on the sidelines of a dinner to be hosted for Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogon will hopefully bridge the gap between the country’s two main political parties, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Information Secretary Fauzia Wahab said on Sunday. Talking to Radio Pakistan, she said the meeting would be a positive move to strengthen democracy. To a question, she said some elements did not want political harmony in the country. Masses should not expect breakthrough from meeting

ISLAMABAD: The masses should not expect any breakthrough from the meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif, PML-N leader Khawaja Asif said on Sunday. Talking to a private TV channel, Asif said the masses and the media were well aware of the results of the meetings Zardari and Nawaz had held during the past year. The PML-N central leader said that there was no agenda for the meeting that would come about during a dinner to be hosted for the visiting Turkish prime minister and a delegation accompanying him. online

Government committed to eliminating terrorism

ISLAMABAD: The government is committed to eliminating terrorism and action against terrorists would continue until the country is purged of the menace, Religious Affairs Minister Syed Hamid Saeed Kazmi said on Sunday. He said efforts were underway to improve the overall security situation of the country. Paying tribute to the Pakistan Army, the minister said the security forces were doing an excellent job by rendering unsurpassed sacrifices to protect the motherland. He urged the people to keep a vigilant eye on suspicious persons and activities in their respective areas and share information with the authorities concerned. app
