37 killed in tribal military operations

TANK: Security forces killed 37 Taliban and injured 23 others during military operations in the South Waziristan, Khyber and Mohmand agencies and the Dir district, separate statements issued by the Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) and the Frontier Corps (FC) revealed on Friday.
The ISPR press release stated that 13 Taliban had been killed on the seventh day of Operation Rah-e-Nijat in South Waziristan, while nine had been injured and another six arrested. It said two soldiers had been martyred, while seven were injured in the offensive. It stated that seven Taliban were killed and one soldier embraced martyrdom during fighting along the Jandola–Sararogha Axis, where security forces have secured Shishamwam. This height would help troops lay siege to Kotkai village from the east.
Six Uzbeks: In the ongoing fight along the Shakai-Ladha Axis, the security forces secured Sherwangi and have advanced to Chalwasti village on the Shakai-Kaniguram-Ladha Axis. The forces said they had killed six Uzbeks, including a local commander, during the offensive. One soldier was also martyred and five injured.
A statement released by the FC, meanwhile, claimed that 24 Taliban were killed and 14 injured, while 41 had been arrested during operations in the Khyber and Mohmand agencies and the Dir district. It claimed four Taliban were killed and four vehicles destroyed in the Gurgorai area of Khyber Agency, adding 25 Taliban were arrested from the Shalobar area of Bara. Fifteen terrorists were killed and 14 injured during offensives in the Kuz Chinarai, Ghanam Shah and Ziarat Killi areas of Mohmand Agency, it added. Security forces also arrested 14 terrorists from the Lal Qilla and Mera Mai areas of Dir.
In Bajaur Agency, five terrorists were killed and three others injured. Sources said 104 terrorists had surrendered to security forces in Bajaur.
Separately, APP reported that 593 internally displaced families from South Waziristan had moved to DI Khan. It said 8,296 families had been registered since October 13 and 5,573 cash cards had already been distributed among them.
