Quake shakes most parts of the country
LAHORE: An earthquake, measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale shook the northern parts of Pakistan early on Friday. According to local TV channels, the quake originated in the Hindu Kush Mountains on the northwest border with Afghanistan. The tremors and a series of after shocks were felt in Shangla, Sargodha, Mianwali, Muzaffarabad, Sialkot, Swat, Kohat, Peshawar, Islamabad and Rawalpindi and Lahore, among others, around 1:58am. There were reports of momentary panic, as people in the cities rushed out of their homes. Buildings and electricity pylons could be seen shaking.
