PML-N tables resolution against NRO
Staff Report
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz on Thursday tabled a resolution in the National Assembly against the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO).
In the resolution, opposition members Raja Asad Khan, Malik Shakir Bashir, Nighat Perveen Mir and Syed Javed Hussain maintained that the NRO had been promulgated by a dictator during the last few days of his regime and approved by the cabinet of former prime minister Shaukat Aziz. They said NA members should rise against the ordinance, as it provided safety to those who had embezzled public funds. The lawmakers asked the NA not to vote for the ordinance and approve their resolution.
The PML-Quaid had already submitted a similar resolution in the Senate secretariat and both opposition parties have vowed to oppose the NRO in parliament.
Meanwhile, the PML-N had also submitted an adjournment motion in the NA secretariat on the recent suicide attack on the International Islamic University in Islamabad.
