Benazir Bhutto Gold Cup Hockey Tournament

Army, PTV, NBP and WAPDA enter semi-finals

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Army, Pakistan Television (PTV), National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) and Pakistan WAPDA earned berths in the semi-finals after defeating their opponents in the quarter-finals of the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Gold Cup Hockey Tournament at the Naseer Bunda Stadium, Pakistan Sports Complex, here on Thursday. In the first show of the super-eight stage, PTV surprised Pakistan Air Force (PAF) with a 3-1 victory to halt their winning streak. In the second quarter-final, Army defeated Port Qasim Authority 4-3. The match was decided on penalty strokes as both teams were unable to even score during extra time of fifteen minutes. NBP thrashed HBL 7-3 in the third contest. In the last quarter-final, WAPDA humbled PIA 5-4 The semi-finals will be played on Friday (today) at the same venue. Army will clash with WAPDA at 1:00pm and NBP will be up against PTV at 3:00pm.
