Chaudhry Zaheer elected PAC-I chairman

Staff Report

LAHORE: The Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), after sidelining the Legharis of the South Punjab, managed to get Leader of the Opposition Chaudhry Zaheerudin elected as the Public Accounts Committee-I (PAC-I) chairman.

The Punjab Assembly (PA) treasury benches were willing to elect Mohsin Khan Leghari, who was also a candidate for the slot, on the basis that Zaheer had already served in the provincial cabinet. The benches were of the view that it was absurd to let a former minister conduct audit procedures of the departments he had been preveiously heading.
