Pillion riding banned in city
KARACHI: Sindh Home Minister Zulfiqar Mirza has imposed section 144 and banned pillion riding for the next 30 days in Karachi and Hyderabad in the aftermath of recent terror attacks in the country.
Disabled and aged people, children, women, journalists and personnel of law enforcement agencies have been exempted from the ban. The minister said law enforcement officials should not exceed their legal powers and avoid harassing peaceful citizens.
He said foolproof security arrangements should be ensured at public places like Army Headquarters, navy fields, gas fields, Karachi Port Trust, Oil Refineries, Coast Guards offices and other sensitive spots to avert any untoward incident.
Meanwhile, the Sindh Inspector General of Police, Sultan Sallahuddin Babar Khattak has ordered the regional police officers of Hyderabad and Sukkur and the Karachi CCPO to ensure extraordinary security measures in the province.
The IGP directed officials to tighten the security at all important places including offices of embassies, residences of important personalities, mosques, imambargahs, major hotels, shopping centres, entertainment areas, railway stations, airports, seminaries and educational institutes. agencies
