SBWSP to be launched soon
KARACHI: The Sindh government will launch the Shaheed Benazir Women Support Programme (SBWSP) in the province soon to support poor women. The decision was taken in a meeting held Friday under the chairmanship of Sindh Chief Minster Qaim Ali Shah at the Chief Minister’s House. Shah said the Sindh government has approved Rs 1,000 per month cash grant programme for about 0.5 million women to be paid on quarterly basis.
He said members of Sindh Assembly will be associated with the programme and provided them forms to get the same filled from eligible women. The meeting was informed that 1,094 women from each of the 457 union councils will be provided such financial help and as per eligibility criteria, an applicant must be a permanent resident of Sindh having the age of above 40 years. It was pointed out that applicant women should not be a recipient of Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) grant or any of her family members receiving income support from any other source. Those possessing a machine-readable passport or national identity card for overseas Pakistanis will not be eligible as well, he said.
It was further informed that the applicant will submit the CNIC and the prescribed form certified by the area’s MPA, which will be verified by NADRA and BISP through the SPU Sindh, besides periodic re-verification by social protection units of the finance department. An IT firm will be engaged to design and print the forms and filled out forms will be scanned with data entry to be verified by NADRA. It was stated that a plastic card would be issued to every beneficiary woman, while data entry website will also be established. app
