Judiciary is the pillar that upholds law, constitution: CJP

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Thursday said judiciary was the pillar that upheld law and the constitution. Addressing an eight-member delegation of Azad Kashmir lawyers, headed by Mirpur Bar Association’s former president Tabassum Sadiq, the CJ said the judiciary was fully committed to serving the litigants better and meeting the increasing expectations of the people. The delegation praised the steps taken by the chief justice to improve the judiciary’s image and appreciated the newly-implemented National Judicial Policy 2009. The delegates also asked for the extension of the National Judicial Policy 2009 to Azad Jammu and Kashmir for ensuring the provision of inexpensive and swift justice to the people. The members also invited the CJ to visit the Mirpur Bar. staff report
