Sardar Yaqoob resigns as AJK PM
ISLAMABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Sardar Yaqoob Khan on Wednesday resigned from office, saying he had done so to avoid political controversy in the legislative assembly. Khan said he had “tendered his resignation without any pressure”. “I made the decision to discourage horse-trading in the assembly and promote democratic tradition in AJK,” he told a press conference. To a question, Khan said, “I did not use my right to dissolve the assembly, as I [have] always respected democracy and democratic traditions.” To another question about his decision to run for the leader of the House again, Khan said he would make a decision in consultation with his party’s leadership. app
