6 killed in separate mishaps

KARACHI: An angry mob torched a passenger coach after it hit and killed a motorcyclist near Natha Khan Bridge, in the remit of Shahrah-e-Faisal police station.

Police officials said the victim was identified as Mohammad Nadeem, 35, son of Abdullah, a resident of Millat Garden, Malir.

He was on his way to his office when he was hit by a ‘Marwat Coach’, bearing registration number PE-2743. Following the accident, angry citizens immediately gathered at the spot and torched the vehicle. Fire brigade department personnel reached the place and extinguished the fire.

Police officials said that the driver who responsible for the accident managed to escape from the scene and they have registered a case against him and initiated investigation.

Similarly, a minor girl died when a vehicle hit her on a road in Sachal Goth in the remit of Sachal police station.

Police said the accident took place when seven-year-old girl Hajra along with her father Ali Nawaz was on her way to the school on a motorcycle. “Her father stopped the motorcycle at a pan shop and she was standing on the road when a speedy truck bearing registration number LSA-2430 hit and killed her,” the police said.

The truck driver fled from the scene along with the vehicle. The deceased girl was a student of class four and had four siblings.

Her body was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities. The police have registered a case.

In another accident, a three-year-old boy was killed when a speedy trailer hit him while he was playing in front of his house in Shah Khalid Colony, Baldia Town, in the jurisdiction of SITE ‘B’ Section police station.

The boy’s body was taken to Civil Hospital, Karachi where he was identified as Muneeb, son of Akhtar. The driver of the trailer managed to escape from the scene.

A 40-year-old man, Qamar Zia, son of Ziaullah, was run over by the Allama Iqbal Express at Natha Khan railway crossing in the limits of Drigh Road Railway police station. The victim was said to be a resident of Gulshan-e-Iqbal and an employee of a private company.

His body was shifted to the JPMC for legal formalities.

In another mishap, a 40-year-old man, Habib, son of Ataullah, an employee of a plastic factory in Sector 12-C, New Karachi Industrial Area police station, was crushed to death when he was supervising a water tanker driver in filling water into the water tank of the factory. Police officials said that the body of the deceased was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and then his family took it away after the legal formalities were completed.

A 30-year-old unidentified man was crushed to death when he was crossing the road at Super Highway within the limits of Sachal police station. His body was shifted to the Edhi morgue, Sohrab Goth after the legal formalities were completed at the ASH.
