‘Mullah Omar is in Kandahar’

LAHORE: Contradicting a report published in British newspaper The Sunday Times, Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said top Taliban leader Mullah Omar is in Kandahar, not Quetta as alleged by the report, a private TV channel reported on Monday. Malik told the channel the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) was not protecting or providing support to the Taliban. He said the ISI’s role in fighting the Taliban had been acknowledged by international intelligence establishments. He said the report was an attempt to undermine Pakistan’s efforts in the fight against terrorism. daily times monitor
