PPP says Zardari never struck deal for his release

KARACHI: President Asif Ali Zardari had never struck any deal for his release but the court had ordered that he should be excluded from the Exit Control List (ECL), according to the media cell of Bilawal House on Saturday.

Aijaz Durrani, spokesman for the media cell defended Zardari and the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leadership against the media trial of Zardari and the PPP leadership. He clarified that Zardari had spent around 20 Eids behind bars and when he was released his name was included in the ECL.

He said that during former president Pervez Musharraf’s government, Zardari was named in the ECL so that he could be forced to remain in Pakistan and couldn’t meet his spouse and children abroad.

“The court rejected the government’s decision and excluded Zardari from the ECL and then he had left for Dubai,” he said. staff report
