3 security personnel killed in Balochistan attacks

QUETTA: A senior Frontier Corps (FC) official was killed and three personnel injured in a gunbattle with drug smugglers in Washuk district on Thursday as unidentified assailants ambushed a Balochistan Constabulary checkpost in Hazarganji area, killing two personnel and injuring as many.

An FC team clashed with the drug smugglers in Mashkil area of Washuk. The Panjgur Rifles chief was killed in the gunbattle. Separately, unidentified assailants attacked a checkpost in Hazarganji area – according to the APP news agency – injuring four Balochistan Constabulary personnel. The injured were rushed to hospital, where two of them died. At least two rockets were fired at the checkpost in the attack. In Barkhan, unidentified men fired four rockets into the town from a nearby hill, injuring a boy. Two of the rockets landed in a cricket ground, reported APP.

Also, four people were injured when their vehicle was targeted in a remote-controlled explosion in Dera Bugti. In Zhob, law-enforcement agencies foiled a potential terrorism bid by seizing a huge cache of arms and ammunition from Kanoki near the Pak-Iran border. staff report/agencies
