ATC-I completes hearing into Marriott hotel bombing case

RAWALPINDI: Anti Terrorism Court-I (ATC-I) on Monday completed hearing into an acquittal plea filed by Dr Usman allegedly involved in the Marriott hotel bombing case and reserved decision till August 15. Judge Muhammad Akram Awan is trying Dr Usman, a resident of Islamabad; Rana Ilyas, a resident of Faisalabad; Muhammad Hameed Afzal, a resident of Toba Tek Singh; and Tehseenullah Jan, a resident of Hayatabad, Peshawar, for their alleged involvement in the case. Earlier, Usman had filed an acquittal plea with the court under Section 265-K. A suicide bomber had blown up his explosives-laden dumper at the entrance to the Marriott hotel on Sept 20, 2008 killing 54 people, including foreigners, and injuring around 266. staff report
