Govt equipping police: Shahbaz
LAHORE: The government is taking effective measures to equip the police force with modern weapons and has set up a special force to combat terrorism, Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif said on Wednesday.
He was talking to a delegation led by Taxila Heavy Industries Chairman Major General Ayaz Saleem Rana who called on him at the CM’s Secretariat. The CM said law and order is the government’s top priority in the present circumstances. He said the strength of the Elite Force had been doubled and its personnel were being given up-to-date training.
He appreciated the role of Taxila Heavy Industries for providing vehicles and other machinery to law enforcement agencies for maintaining peace. Rana and Director (Technical) Brig Azhar Ghauri briefed the CM on different products and vehicles produced in the Taxila Heavy Industries. Separately, Air Staff Chief Rao Qamar Suleman called on the CM and discussed matters of mutual interest. The air chief also apprised the CM of the professional activities of the Pakistan Air Force. staff report
