Man kills pregnant wife, alleged paramour

KARACHI: A man killed his young wife and her alleged paramour on suspicion of illicit relations at his home and fled from the scene on Monday.

The bodies of Alia, 20 and her alleged paramour Hakim Ali, 25, were found on Monday afternoon from a house in New Muzaffarabad Colony, Landhi within the limits of Quaidabad police station.

SHO Asif Rauf confirmed that the man and woman were shot twice, adding that Alia’s husband Zaidullah, who is from Swat, murdered the two, suspecting them of having illicit relations. The officer said that Zaidullah fled after committing the crime, adding that a probe into the case has been started.

Area witnesses said that the deceased Hakim frequently visited Alia’s house in the absence of Zaidullah. At the time of incident, Zaidullah, who is a labourer by profession arrived at his house and shot both of them after finding them in an objectionable state.

Sources further said that Zaidullah and his deceased wife belonged to Swat and were relatives. They had tied the knot six months ago in an arranged marriage.

Prior to her wedding, Alia, a resident of Majeed Colony, had relations with Hakim who was also a resident of Majeed Colony. The deceased Hakim used to work in a garment factory.

Bodies of both the victims were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for autopsy. Hospital sources have added that Alia was four months pregnant.

An FIR has been registered on behalf of Alia’s brother Ataullah.

Cop commits suicide: A head constable of Korangi police station committed suicide after suffering from prolonged illness. Police officials said Ejaz, 40, was ill for a long time and was suffering from hepatitis C. He committed suicide on Monday by shooting himself from his official submachine gun. Ejaz joined the police force in 1983 and was posted at Korangi police station since 2002. The deceased belonged to Shikarpur and has left behind a widow and a daughter.

Security guard commits suicide: A security guard named Farid, son of Idrees committed suicide by shooting himself in Lawrence Colony, Block-I in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. The deceased was in his mid-30s and committed suicide due to unknown reasons. The deceased hailed from Multan and lived alone in Zia Colony. His body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for legal formalities.

Man found dead: The body of 35-year old Qasim Shahzad, son of Abdur Rasheed, was recovered near the railway tracks with in the limits of Shah Faisal Colony police station on early Monday morning. Shahzad was shot dead by unidentified persons.

Police said the deceased was a resident of Achra, Lahore and had recently returned from China, as was shown on his passport that was found from his body.

Man dies after falling from stairs: A man named Aleemullah died after falling down from the stairs at his residence in Defence Phase IV. His body was shifted to the JPMC for legal formalities.

Unidentified man dies in road mishap: An unidentified person died in a road mishap while crossing a road at the Northern Bypass within the limits of Manghopir police station. His body was shifted to the ASH for autopsy.
