Two killed in suspected US missile strike in Miranshah

MIRANSHAH: A missile strike by suspected United States forces killed at least two Taliban and injured three others on Monday in Miranshah district of North Waziristan Agency, an official said.

“A missile fired by US forces killed two men outside the town of Miranshah,” a security official told AFP.

Three other people were injured in the missile strike and it was not immediately clear if the missile was fired from a drone or fired by US forces deployed across the border in Afghanistan, he added.

The missile struck the house of local tribesman Ghunchagul Wazir in Tabitolkhel village late on Monday night, he said.

Residents said that US drones had earlier been seen in the morning hovering at low altitude above the agency’s main town. The Taliban had been seen visiting the house earlier, residents said. afp
