Bone replacement cases reviewed at Holy Family Hospital

ISLAMABAD: Postgraduate trainees of Holy Family Hospital (HFH) presented their cases of bone replacement, reconstruction and fracture replacement in the monthly orthopedic meeting held on Sunday.

The meeting was chaired by orthopedic consultant of Al-Shifa Hospital Dr Khalid Aslam and attended by Col M Saleem and Col Asad of Combined Military Hospital, Dr Shaheen and Dr Tayyab of the HFH and a number of young doctors from local hospitals.

The research-oriented academic session was held under the auspices of Hilton Pharmaceutical. Drs Shafiq Chughtai and Yasir Pervez of the HFH discussed the procedures adopted to investigate and tackle the disorder of bone. They exchanged views with the senior orthopedic surgeons about the treatment methodology and observance of different protocol. During the presentation, patient-care management also came under discussion.

On the occasion, Dr Khalid Aslam emphasised the need for treatment and said the presentation was delivered in accordance with a required standard. He also highlighted new techniques and methods of treatment, asking the young doctors to keep abreast of the latest advancements in the field of surgery, so that they could perform more professionally and promote a proper way of treatment.

In the meeting, the patients also shared their experiences and guided the trainees about procedures of bone replacement. Dr Aslam briefed the meeting on different cases of orthopedic surgery being conducted at the HFH. He said that special emphasis should be laid on promotion of health education as well as provision of healthcare facilities. app
